The Pittsburgh FAB Institute hosts workshops that are open to all teachers who want to learn about digital fabrication. Participants will range from beginners to experts. Participants will learn the following skills to implement at the elementary, middle and high school levels: Computer-Aided Design (2D and 3D), Computer-controlled cutting (laser and CNC Router), electronics production, computer-controlled machining, embedded programming, 3D scanning/printing and project development.

Dr. Todd Kersukin, Assistant Superintendant of the Elizabeth Forward School District, contacted me to create the Identity for the FAB Institute. He mentioned that the Fab Lab logo was to be incorporated into the design. I had chosen a gear to surround the Fab Lab logo. I believed this was a great choice as it entails that the Fab Lab is working into something much greater that it already is by educating teachers and getting the gears turning in their heads as to how they may be able to create material to take back to the classroom. The Pittsburgh skyline silhouette was also added to signify the Institute's location.
